Green Grant Scheme – What we know so far

The Government’s new Green Grant Scheme went live at the end of September 2020. It will run until the end of March 2021. Within the FMB we have spoken a great deal about the scheme to try and gain a better understanding of how it will operate. It is not a straightforward process for us or as I understand the property owner.

Green Grant Scheme and where we are at

There is a real shortage of competent persons who can carry out this work and under the Green Grant Scheme. Each contractor has to be Trustmark approved, which we are. However under the scheme they also want contractors to be PAS2030 accredited, something which has not been necessary before. We are therefore currently going through this process to make sure we are approved to carry out the work under the Green Grant Scheme.

We assess properties for energy efficient measures (EEM) in regards to retrofitting working on a fabric first approach. When thinking about having works carried out with a scheme voucher it is extremely important that your property is looked at as a whole. You understand that if insulation is installed, ventilation must also be looked at. A survey of your property should be carried out first by qualified Retrofit Coordinators under PAS2035 recommendations. We are Retrofit Coordinators. These government schemes failed in the past when contractors just installed insulation without understanding the property and the effect it can have.

Until we have the PAS2030 accreditation in place we are not currently quoting for the scheme’s work. However, we are in position to carry out an EEM (Energy Efficiency Measure) survey to make sure your property is on the correct path.

We will update our information when we are able to undertake this work. If you would like further information please do get in touch.
